![]() BILL MCLENDON RECEIVES YMCA OF METRO ATLANTA VOLUNTEER AWARD (ATLANTA)-October 27, 2011 The YMCA of Metro Atlanta is recognizing Bill McLendon as its 2011 Kellogg Branch Champion Award winner. Named in memory of a former Y board member, the award recognizes volunteers who demonstrate long-time commitment as a servant leader to the YMCA of Metro Atlanta. McLendon will be honored at the YMCA of Metro Atlanta annual volunteer recognition dinner Monday, November 7, 2011, at the Cobb Galleria. McLendon first got involved with the Y when he was asked to form a steering committee for the development of what is now known as the Robert D. Fowler Family YMCA in Norcross. He then joined the Metro board in 1999 and served on the endowment committee. Currently he is a member of the finance and audit committee. McLendon is involved with YMCA Camp High Harbour and is a past board member. “The Y is a focal point in the neighborhood where young and old come together to play, to learn, to workout, and to grow,” McLendon says. “It’s a place where diverse cultures can enrich their lives intellectually, physically and spiritually.” McLendon retired earlier this year from Deloitte. He and his wife, Vivian, live in Alpharetta with their children Garrett and Kristina. The Y is a powerful association of men, women and children joined together by a shared commitment to nurturing the potential of kids, promoting healthy living and fostering a sense of social responsibility. Every day, we work side-by-side with our neighbors to make sure everyone, regardless of age, income or background, has the opportunity to learn grow and connect. For more info call 404-588-9622. |
